Interplast Company of Sharjah has recently been awarded ISO 9001 certification for its Decoduct cable management systems and Intergard cable protection systems from ASTA, the UK testing body for electrical products.

This follows the earlier award of ISO 9001 certificate by the UK body for Interplast's Edison electrical accessories at the end of 1997.

Interplast expects to achieve a total turnover of Dh210 million ($57.2 million) for this year and maintain a yearly growth of 20 per cent for the next three years.

"In order to achieve this growth and to face the challenging and competitive market of today, we have planned an array of new products. These products are aimed at helping us achieve our targets, while ensuring high quality and customer satisfaction," says Abdur Rubb, product sales manager.

Other new products planned include:

  • The modular grid system;

  • Weatherproof accessories;

  • Metal-clad switches;

  • Decorative range of switches, such as the rope edge;

  • Compartment trunking;

  • Underfloor trunking systems - metal and plastic;

  • Metal cable support systems such as cable trays and ladders, and cable trays support systems;

  • Metal conduits and fittings, both rigid and flexible;

  • Concrete products applicable for underground cable installations;

  • Cable cleats, both metal and plastic;

  • Cable lugs; and

  • Cable ties, clips and other related products for the building industry.

    Interplast also intends to boost its range of Decoduct consumer units by adding on 10 sizes of adaptable boxes.

    "With the above range of products in the pipeline, we hope we not only see growth in our turnover but also level of service and add value to the client's business which is of essence in a competitive world," Rubb says. "Furthermore, we would like to emphasise that our products are manufactured from reliable virgin raw materials."

    He urges consumers to be wary of manufacturers who supply products made out of inferior quality recycled raw material, thus presenting a hazard to the building industry.

    "The planned expansion of our ranges shows the company's commitment to its customers and to the region and places us firmly as a leading manufacturer of quality electrical products globally," he concludes.
